As the summer winds down and backpacks start appearing in store windows, we've been busy supporting our local educators and students in their preparation for the new school year. Over the past several weeks, our team has had the privilege of connecting with our community in meaningful ways that directly impact the learning environment for countless students.

We kicked off our back-to-school initiative by participating in fairs for both Alief ISD and Stafford Municipal School District, where we donated over 500 school supply kits and had the opportunity to meet families, share information about our services, and demonstrate our commitment to educational excellence in our area. We also provided cozy hoodies to help students stay comfortable during those chilly morning walks to class this coming fall. 

Additionally, recognizing the hard work teachers put in during those intense pre-school preparation days, our Sugar Land branch donated lunch to educators at Adams Junior High as they transformed empty classrooms into vibrant learning spaces just ahead of the first day of school.

Perhaps most rewarding was our opportunity to support two teachers who are also valued members of our credit union community by fulfilling their Amazon wishlists – those carefully curated collections of classroom supplies that make such a difference in daily learning. Our Conroe Branch partnered with Patterson Elementary School to honor Mrs. Garcia, a 3^rd grade teacher and dedicated member of Smart Financial since graduating from Conroe High School, and 4^th grade teacher, Mrs. White, also a graduate of Conroe High and Smart Financial member since 2002. As part of our celebration, the Conroe Branch hosted a month-long school supply drive throughout July, which resulted in a generous donation of supplies to Patterson Elementary for distribution among its dedicated staff.

These efforts reflect our deep belief that strong schools create strong communities. As students settle into their new routines and teachers welcome fresh faces, we're proud to have played a small part in setting everyone up for a successful year ahead.
