Fraud Awareness: This is a warning to be on the alert for scams involving Zelle®. Scammers may send text messages, emails or phone calls impersonating Smart Financial and trick you into sharing personal information like login credentials or account numbers. They may tell you that a transaction is on hold pending authorization or that your credentials are needed to unlock your account after a suspicious login attempt.

Smart Financial will NEVER contact you unsolicited and ask you to verify your account, provide security information, nor ask you to use Zelle® to transfer funds. If you receive any communication asking you to share personal or security information such as account password, PIN, mother’s maiden name, date of birth, social security number, or other personal information, hang up immediately.

When in doubt, call Smart Financial directly at 713-850-1600 to confirm. Do not rely on any contact information provided by the potential scammer. Be safe and aware, especially during the Holiday season!
